As a French expatriate, I am of course interested in a venue close to my hometown. The closest venue in this year's Olympics is the shooting range of Chateauroux. Located about 2 hours south of Paris in the Indres department, Chateauroux is what most people think of when they imagine a small French city. Many historical buildings built around a meandering river and surrounded by endless countryside dotted by small villages.
Located about 5 miles outside of Chateauroux, the Centre National de Tir Sportif or National shooting center is a state of the art facility and is the largest in Europe. Today will see the skeet qualifications and rapid fire pistol men's finals.
Some of the other competitions for the US teams today include volleyball, diving, hockey, climbing, athletics, sailing, volleyball, equestrian, and more.
To watch on TV, tune in to NBC or stream on Peacock and other platforms. France is 6 hours ahead of US Eastern time and 9 hours ahead of US Pacific time.
