2024 Paris Olympics day 13
Paris Olympics news:
American sports on the Champs Elysées!
From the streets of Southern California in the 1960s and 70s to the Paris Olympics on the Place de la Concorde in 2024, skateboarding and BMX have been on quite the ride!
They are joined on the famed plaza by breakdancing and 3x3 basketball! Breakdancing traces its roots to the streets of New York in the 1980s. 3x3 basketball was officially recognized in Singapore, but it had been a very popular activities in many US cities for years.
We are delighted that the Paris Olympics has chosen the Place de la Concorde, the beautiful square that marks the eastern end of the Champs Elysées, as the venue for these activities!
Tune in today for the women's skateboarding finals and tomorrow for the men's. Breakdancing will start on Friday. 3x3 basketball and BMX competitions are over with the BMX French men team sweeping all three medals!
Some of the other competitions for the US teams today include diving, equestrian, sport climbing, table tennis, athletics, diving, wrestling, sailing, volleyball, soccer, artistic swimming, water polo, and more.
To watch on TV, tune in to NBC or stream on Peacock and other platforms. France is 6 hours ahead of US Eastern time and 9 hours ahead of US Pacific time.
